FHFA Offers Insight Into GSE Foreclosure Prevention

The Federal Housing Finance Agency released its second quarter Foreclosure Prevention Report which shows that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac completed 48,438 foreclosure prevention actions in the second quarter of 2016, bringing the total number of foreclosure prevention actions to more than 3.7 million since the start of the conservatorships in September 2008.
ALTA Consumer Survey Shows 40% Confused by Title Fee Calculation on Closing Disclosure

ALTA’s survey, which polled 2,000 current and prospective homeowners (planning to buy within the next year), revealed that homeowners find the CFPB’s new mortgage disclosures confusing or deceiving.
Drop in Refinancing Pushes Mortgage Applications Lower by 0.7%

Refinance volume, which now accounts for 62.7 percent of all applications, fell 2 percent from the previous week, seasonally adjusted, but were up 34 percent from a year ago, when mortgage rates were higher. Mortgage applications to purchase a home increased 1 percent for the week and were 10 percent higher than the same week one year ago.
Yellen Says Economy Likely Ready for Rate Hike Later in 2016

Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen said Wednesday that the central bank has no “fixed timetable” for raising interest rates but she believes the economy is ready for a rate hike by the end of the year.
